A Message from the Principal

21 November 2008

Dear Parents and Friends,
On Thursday our whole school gathered together in the gym to sing for the Windows on the World Song Project led by Joshua Stone.  The children have been practicing their origin lyrics put to music by Mr. Stone since the beginning of the month.  I know the spoken voices of all of our children by heart, yet to hear them sing together was a memorable, moving experience.  I wanted to add a banner to the gymnasium wall that acknowledged and celebrated this moment in time of perfect harmony for our school family.  Sincere thanks to Mr. Stone for sharing his incredible gift with us.  Thank you also to the Falls Village Community and Cultural Center as well as our CCS PTA for funding this project.  A special thank you to our Mrs. Rovezzi for all of her work “behind the scenes” in organizing the whole program from beginning to end.
As you know we have Parent Teacher Conferences next Monday and Tuesday (thus early dismissal at 1pm both days), 6th , 7th, and 8th grade students are invited to attend the conferences with their parent/s.  This is not required; however it is an experience that will begin to instill a serious responsibility in our children for their own work.
There has been a change in how to access the homework on line for grades 6, 7 and 8.  Instead of looking on schoolnotes.com you go to cornwallschool.org and you will find the teachers’ web pages there.  We will send home directions as how to use this site.
Thanks to everyone who sent in cleats, 55 pairs were collected.  They will be distributed by the US Soccer Foundation to children in the US.  Thank you to Mrs. Collins for leading out for our local chapter of CCS Roots & Shoots.  Roots & Shoots are also sponsoring a collection for the Cornwall Cupboard Food Pantry.  Please read the back of this newsletter for suggested donations.
Winter is upon us.  Please be sure your children come in with hats, gloves, mittens and all things warm as it can get mighty cold out on the playground.  Many thanks.
There will be no newsletter next week.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

Dr. Fitz
